The 2016 Franklin Arts Festival kicks off tonight at the Pukekohe Town Hall with the opening of the week long event which runs till Sunday 11th of September.  The Franklin Arts Centre (next door) will also  display items.

Friday’s Gala Opening Night provides a rare opportunity for local Franklin artists to network and share fresh ideas about how we can all support & promote a healthy, secure and vibrant creative sector. Presentation of awards to the winning artists begin around 8pm.

If you wish to attend the preview opening, you can buy a ticket at the door from 7 pm onwards. Tickets for Friday night are $25.00 with tickets for the rest of the weeks festival are $7.00 with kids free with hours being 9:30am till 4:30pm. All exhibits are for sale and prices are printed in booklets that are available at the door.

For myself personally only taking on photography from the start of 2015, I was astonished at the different types of photos, paintings, carvings, textile art, prints, ceramics that are on display. Over 800 pieces to look at and each item can take you into another world for a couple of minutes.

It is a great place for kids to discover what creativity is all about and it was also interesting to talk with artists and art enthusiasts alike. I believe everyone should have a creative outlet and a place like this is perfect to find that inspiration that will get you back into painting, carving or whatever your heart desires.
